Hello and welcome to this month’s Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  You may be noticing some changes happening to this hop.  We have changed days of the hop; instead of going live on the 1st of every month we will now be hopping on the first Friday of the month.  You will also see that we are now using a new system for our blog rolls.  You will also see two new faces with us this month.  The wonderful Pam Staples and Charity Wright has joined our hop team, and I couldn’t be more excited.  In the coming year you will see a few more changes that I have planned.  This month our theme is Ring in the New Year you will see all types of projects to help you get ready for the New Year.

The new Year coming up will be the Year of the Pig in the Chinese Calendar and I wanted to celebrate both seasons so I picked a couple stamp sets that feature both.  I picked This Little Piggy and the Timeless Tiding Stamp Sets for my card today.  I also did a new technique with this month’s card.  I created a Off the Edge Card which worked out wonderfully.

The first thing that I did to create this card was to take a piece of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ Petal Pink cardstock (I picked this color because I knew it would be great for the flying pig) and a t-square ruler and marked the card base at 4 1/4 with a pencil.  Next I added a strip of designer series paper right next to the pencil line.  I skipped a little space and added a small strip of silver glimmer paper.  Then I picked where my stamped image was going to be and placed my framelit.  I ran it through the Big Shot using partial die cutting.

I stamped my little piggy in Memento  Tuxedo Black ink because I knew I was going to be doing a little coloring with my Stampin’ Blends.  To color this little cutie in I used Flirty Flamingo Light & Dark for his ears and a little on the checks and nose, and his body was done in Petal Pink to match my card.  I used the Basic Black light Stampin’ Blend to color the hooves.  I then added Pool Party Light and dark around the pig.  To blend the light out a little I used the color lifter.  At this point I added the die cut stitched circle to the card base with a little multipurpose liquid glue.  At this point you have to add your score line but don’t score the die cut area.

I stamped the clouds in petal pink and did the same thing on the envelope flap.  At this point I cut the card down to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 on the side without the stamped image.  You do this by lining up the die cut at 4 1/4 on the trimmer and cut off the other side of the card.  On the other side of the silver glimmer paper strip I turned the card and stamped Happy New Year from the Timeless Tiding Stamp set.  I had to use a little washi tape to mask off the area of the sentiment that I didn’t want to use.  And yes it still fits in a standard envelope.
