Last month I took part in a mail in card swap with a few friends. We each designed a card using products from the new catalog. Well I had to use something from both catalogs. I had had this idea in mind since the holiday catalog came out. I wanted to combine the Sweet Storybook Stamp Set with the Candy Cane Season Stamp Set (which by the way will be offered as a Online class on November 16). I loved the little mice and I adored the candy canes. Okay okay here’s a picture of the card.

This was the first design I came up with. The one that I sent was a little different. And I am glad I made the few changes I did to the final card. Yesterday Stampin’ Up! announced that the Santa’s workshop enamel elements would not be available any longer along with the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper and the festive wood elements. They are going to sale a alternative to the designer series paper more on that later.

One of the first things I did was Stamp all the mice candy cane and bows using the stamparatus. This made it so much easier and took way less time than doing it by hand. After that I colored.

I colored all their little ears and feet with the petal pink Stampin Blends (both light and dark) and colored the ground with my Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker.

As you can see in the final version I moved the bakers twine to the strip of garden green cardstock and added a few enamel dots in matching colors.

I thought that the sentiment from the sweet Storybook was cute on the inside of the card.

That’s my swap that I sent out last month to a few friends that I swap with. If you need any of the products you’ve seen today they can all be picked up in my online store. You will find a full list below.
