Hello and welcome to my blog today. I hope your having a wonderful time this week end. I know we are and let me just tell you we are both tired but are having a great time in the longest yard sale. I wanted to share with you the next post in my series called Step It Up Saturday. This is where I take and create three different cards using the same stamp set and products. The first card you will see is just a basic beginning level card with stamps, inks, and paper. The second card will be stepped up a little bit more and could be geared toward someone that may on a few more supplies then someone that’s just starting out. The finale card you will see is “really” stepped up. It will feature a little more work and could be geared toward someone with a little more skills in cardmaking then someone that’s again just starting out.
Okay with all the details out of the way let’s look at the cards I’ve created this week featuring the Tropical Chic Stamp Set and products from the Tropical Escape Suite.
I started out making each of these cards by using the Tropical Escape Card stock pack along with a few sheets of Whisper who’re cardstock. Each of these cards started all the same way. So I’m going to start out with the basic card.
Stamps, Ink, & Paper:
So for the first card I started out with a Blushing Bride card base cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2. For my card front I started out with a piece of Whisper white cut at 3 3/4 x 5. I started out by stamping the striped image from the stamp set in blushing bride classic ink going down the left side. I stamped one of each of the leaves in either Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, or a combo of each. For example the center leaf was first inked in Granny Apple green and I took a sponge dauber inked in Shaded Spruce and went around the edge of the leaf before stamping. I stamped the sentiment using memento tuxedo black ink along the bottom.
A Step Above:
For the second level card I started out with the same two pieces of cardstock as above. Blushing Bride card base (4 1/4 x 11) and a whisper white piece (3 3/4 x 5). I stamped the three leaves the same way. Instead of stamping the strips in blushing bride I added a small strip of the Tropical escape designer series paper along the side. The card front was placed on a Granny Apple green mat (4 x 5 1/4) before adding to a card base. Inside of stamping the sentiment onto the front of the card I did it on a strip of whisper white cardstock and made a flag tail. I added some of the Tropical elements to finish off the card. Just those few changes changed the look of the card.
A Little More Please:
For the a little more please instead of the whisper white card stock I used another piece of designer series paper cut to the same size 3 3/4 x 5. I used the Die in the set and cut out a palm window and added a blushing bride piece behind it to make the leaves pop. I stamped the leaves the same for this card as the others but used the matching dies to cut them out. The card front was matted with the same granny Apple green mat on the same card base. The only other change was I stamped one of the flowers and die cut it and popped it up on a dimensional. And instead of stamping the sentiment on whisper white I did it on granny Apple green Cardstock.
It’s interesting to see how making a few little changes to each card changes the feel of each card.
Thanks for dropping by I hope you are having fun weekend.
