Hello and welcome to my YouTube channel and blog today. I’m going to share with you today the envelope that I created for the card I shared with you on Tuesday. This is a fun card that was very striking and I thought that the envelope needed to be as well. So I used the same colors and materials to create the envelope in the same style with the Envelope Punch Board. You will see the full creative process in the video tutorial. Here’s a look at the envelope and card.
I sent this card back in May to Patty Bennett. She had shared some peace rose stamps she had gotten at the post office and I had just gotten home and had purchased the same stamps. So we started talking and decided to exchange cards. This was what she got in the mail. I knew she was a big watercolor fan because her dad was a watercolorist. So I knew this was what I wanted to do. It was a matter of having the right stamp Set. I had just gotten the Petal Palette Set in my order so I knew that was the one to use.
I enjoy watercoloring with our inks because I get the vibrant results I love with watercolors without as many layers. This entire card and envelope was only done with two layers or washes. The paper for the card was our watercolor paper. But, our watercolor paper doesn’t come big enough and is to heavy of a weight to make an envelope so I used Canson 90ld watercolor paper that comes in a 9 x 12 pad with the blue label. It’s thin enough but durable all at the same time. Let’s look at the envelope.
I used a micro glaze to seal the mail art piece once I had the address on the envelope. I did avoid putting it on the stamps because the post office wouldn’t be able to cancel the stamps. I popped it in the mail with a little extra postage and off it went.
In the video I walk you step by step on how to create the envelope along with some tips and tricks to painting with our ink. You can click here to view the video or click on the image above.
Here’s one more picture of the envelope.
