Hello and welcome to my blog today. I hope your week is starting of great. Mine is I’m getting ready to head out of town on Thursday for a few days. We are going to do the World’s Longest Yard Sale again so it should be hot and fun. I’m going to be on the hunt for some great bargain props for my photos. But, before we leave it’s all work and no play.

I know that life sometimes get a little messy for different reasons and we all need a little pick me up. So I designed my card today using two stamp sets that I haven’t used in awhile, but are both super cute. I don’t know why I’ve not reached for them sooner to create a fun card in awhile but I haven’t and wanted to drag them back out for a fun day of stamping. Here’s a look at my card for today.

I started out by stamping the kitty all tangled up with the yarn ball (from Pretty Kitty) in Memento Tuxedo black ink and then spaced over just a little and stamped the Sitting Bella (from Bella and Friends) in the same ink. I picked this ink because I knew I was going to be coloring with my Stampin’ Blend markers. This was all stamped on a piece of thick whisper white cut at 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.

I started coloring the white kitty with the smoky slate Stampin blends adding just a little shadow to the areas that would be in shadow and lightening it up with the light smoky slate blend and the color lifter. I then took the light and dark granny Apple green blends and colored the yarn and yarn ball, adding just enough shading to make it look as if it’s sitting on the floor. I also used this color on the collar around Bella’s neck. Bella was colored using the new soft suede blends and The heart was in Lovely Lipstick. To finish off the cute little fur babies I added some petal Pink to their ears and cheeks (also a new color).

At this point I knew I needed to ground them and wanted to have a definite separation from the floor and the sky area. So I took one of our journaling pens and a ruler and drew a straight line. You can do this because the ink in the journaling pens are water based and work fine with the alcohol ink in the blends.

I colored the ground in Smoky Slate getting lighter as it went away from my fur babies. And the sky was done in both Light and dark Pool party blends. I did soften both the ground and sky areas in the lightest areas with the color lifter to create an even softer blend.

The sentiment was stamped in the same tuxedo black ink at the top left of the colored panel. I matted it using a piece of Basic Black card stock (to tie in the ink) and draw attention to the colored image.

I added a piece of the Granny Apple Green Designer Series Paper from the brights collection also matted the same way to my card base that is also in Granny Apple Green ( 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). I placed the colored panel on Stampin’ dimensionals, but before placing it on the card front I added some of the 1/2″ textures weave ribbon in Granny Apple green and some 3/8″ ruffled lemon lime twist ribbon plus a little of the gold sequin trim to the card base. I placed the stamped colored panel over that so that the ribbon would poke out the sides. To tie in the gold sequin trim I added a few pulled from the spool using a dab of multipurpose glue to hold them in place.
