Welcome to the July Blogging Friends Blog Hop; this month our theme is all about the new 2018 Annual Catalog. There are so many things to pick from this catalog that it was hard to narrow it down to just one thing. If you are just joining the hop welcome and I hope that you have a fun time hopping along today. You can click on the name in the blog roll below to hop. For my project I had to pick one of my favorite stamp sets to feature this month. If you have followed my blog you would know that I love Postcard Pals. It’s one of my all time favorite stamp sets that I’ve gotten lately. It was one that I had to have when I first saw it in the catalog back after OnStage in April. Postcard Pals features some of the cutest water creatures that you have ever seen in your life. The line art in the stamp set allows you to color in any way that you want. Plus to top it off there are some cute sentiments. Okay, I’ve went on enough about the stamp set I know that you want to see the card that I created right. Well, here you go.
Tips & Tricks:
I started out by taking a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a little post it tape and masked off each strip one at a time. I started in the center and masked off that stripe first. Once I had it masked with the post it tape it was time to do a little ink blending. I started out light with Poppy Parade ink and then built up each layer until I got the color I wanted. I masked off the next stripe and repeated the process using Blueberry Bushel Classic Ink. I next masked off a white strip and masked off the next one and repeated the ink blending process alternating between each color. Once I had all the stripes done I flicked on a little water and dried it up with a paper towel. This added a little bit of texture to the card. I trimmed the panel down to 3 3/4 x 5. I then took one of the circle framelits from the Layering Circle Framelits and cut three circle out of the card front. Once I had the three die cuts done I lightly drew the outline of the circles onto another piece of Whisper White cardstock cut at 3 3/4 x 5. I removed the top ink blended piece and stamped one of each of the Postcard pals characters into one of the circles using Tuxedo Black Ink. I then colored each one of the characters using my Stampin’ Blends markers. I also colored the background circles. Once everything was colored I placed Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the striped panel and layered it on top of the stamped panel. Next I took a strip of Poppy Parade cardstock and stamped the sentiment Just A little Note to say” in versamark ink and added white emboss powder. One it was heat set I cut the sentiment apart and added it to the front of the card. This is a great way to add a new look to one of your stamp sentiments. Once I had the sentiments attached I added a few star sequins to the front of the card. The card front was placed on a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Poppy Parade Cardstock.
For the inside of the card I stamped happy 4th of the July in Blueberry Bushel and Poppy Parade. I achieved the inside sentiment by using the Make a Difference Stamp Set. This alphabet stamp set makes creating whatever sentiment you want super easy.
Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you have enjoyed today’s card. Next on the hop is Nikki. I hope that you all have a wonderful time hoping along this month. Remember that if you need any of the supplies that you’ve seen today you can order them in my online store.
Happy Stampin’
