Thanks for dropping by today for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This weeks challenges will run for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to join in on the fun. I took some liberties with this weeks sketch which I will share with you shortly. For my project today I went with a stamp set that I haven’t played with in awhile. I picked Floral Statements which came out in last years catalog and is a returning set in this years Annual catalog; I couldn’t be happier. I just love this big bold floral sentiment set it makes me so happy. Heres a look at my card today.

And here’s a look at this weeks sketch.  You can visit the challenge page by clicking on the image below or by clicking here.

I told you this was a fun one that would let you take lots of liberties with it.

Adding Color:

I first stamped the rose thanks image in Stazon Jet Black Ink on a piece of the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper. Next I heat set it using my heat tool. Once set I came back in with prismacolor pencils and started to color.

I started the coloring process with with a white prismacolor pencil very lightly (since the paper was toned I needed to do this to build up my color layers. Once I had everything colored in with the white pencil I came back in with my next lightest color for the roses which was Blush Pink. While coloring I was very aware of where my highlights were going to be. I didn’t want to cover over them; this would have made it harder to pull them back up. At this point I started adding my mid tones to the roses and buds with Hot Pink. Finally once all the midtone and light colors where applied I started adding my darkest shade of pink which was Rouge Quadrichromie (all the color pencil work was done with prismacolor pencils).

Once the roses and buds was colored I repeated the same process with all the leaves and stems. I added my white highlights first then my lifestyle green (Which was chartreuse) my midtone (Apple Green) and the finale layer Grass Green. I did press a little harder with the addition of each color but not to hard to fill the tooth of the paper. After all my coloring was done I came back in and blended everything with my prismacolor colorless blender to get a nice smooth result. At this point I did come back and add just a touch more white here and there on the image.

To Achieve the Vignette:

I started around the flower and text with my white pencil and just started building up layers of white getting softer as I went out. Once I had the area lightened enough I came back in with a sponge dauber and some soft suede ink and darkened the edges and blended the darker shade inward just a little to help with the Vignette effect.

To finish off today’s card I added the stamped image to a piece of Basic Black cardstock cut to 4 x 5 1/4. Next I added it to the Petal Pink card base which was cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2.

I also added some white outlines around the black letters because they began to get lost. To add just a little sparkle to the card I also want over each letter with my clear wink-a-Stella brush pen. Once I photographed the card I did decided to add a couple rhinestone gems around the flowers.

Thanks for dropping by I hope that you have enjoyed my card today and I hope you play along. I’m also using this card as part of the Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day Coloring challenge. She does this twice a year and you are challenged to color something everyday for thirty days. By coloring everyday it lowers your stress and has a great impact on your health. You can find out more about her 30 day challenge over on her YouTube Challenge the Daily Marker. You can pick up all the supplies except the prismacolor pencils in my online store, check out the full list of supplies below.
