Hello stampers, friends, and crafters, today I will be showing you how to create a jelly print using the Gel Press and the NEW Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set Rooted in Nature. Rooted In Nature is a new stamp set & die bundle in the upcoming 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. The Rooted in Nature Stamp Set features a lovely set of tree images that will go perfectly with Lovely As a Tree. This was one of the stamp sets that I feel in love with at OnStage and I know you will too. Here’s a look at the cards that I created using this technique.
What is Gel Press Printing (Jelly Printing):
Gel Press Plates come in different sizes and can be picked up in any big box store, online, and can be made on your own (if you Google the how to). They are great for creating monoprints which is simply a printmaking term for creating one time artist prints. This is an easy way to produce fabulous images using found items, ink, paint, stencils, and so much more. You can create your own custom collages right on the print or tear them up and put them in collage artwork.
I am going to show you today how to use some products that will be coming in the New Catalog to create these wonderful fun prints in your cardmaking. If you are viewing this post by email you my have to click here to see the video.
A Closer Look:
Here is a little closer look at each card. Now that you have seen how they were created.
This was the first card that I created using the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set. I stamped the tree ring image onto the Jelly Plate and then pulled the print. I cut it down to 3 3/4 x 5 and matted it on a piece of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock and then onto my Mint Macaron Cardbase.
This is the the card that I showed you how to do in the video I stamped the images onto the inked plate and then pulled the print and cut it down to the same 3 3/4 x 5. I then matted it onto a piece of lemon lime twist cardstock that was cut to 4 x 5 1/4. This was then added to the Grapefruit Grove Cardbase that was cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.
This is the final card for today. I just took the stamped images after pressing the stamps on the gel press and stamped the images onto another piece of whisper white cardstock. I simply placed it onto a piece of Basic Black that was cut 1/8″ larger and placed it on the Old Olive card base.
I hope that you have enjoyed today’s card and that I have inspired you to try Jelly printing it’s a super fun technique and can be used for so much.
