Today I am going to share with you my card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew challenge. This week we are doing a themed challenge. I will share with you the theme card a little further down in my post. I used the Petal Palette Stamp Set (a carryover item to the 2018 Annual Catalog) and the Sweet Soirée Embellishment Kit (a retiring item) both of these are currently in the 2018 Occasions Catalog. All retiring items are while supplies last so if you want any of the retiring items please get them now before they are gone (the 2016-2018In Colors are one of those things that you will want to stock up on now before they are sold out). Here’s a look at my card today.
And here’s the challenge theme card for this week.
Rustic Floral Wreath:
To create the rustic floral wreath on my card today I used the Layering Circle Framelits which feature a variety of different sized circles and scallop circle framelits. Which when paired with the Big Shot make cutting the perfect circle for your card super fast and easy. I cut the mat and Wood Textured Designer Series paper out at the same time. I then layered the same circle framelit back up in my Big Shot on just the cardbase and ram it through again creating the window. I layered the wood texture designer series paper and the old olive mat on my cardbase.
Once that was complete I’m not sure if you can see it or not but but I cut out a circle frame using the largest and and next size circle down from my opening in Powder Pink and attached it using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Next, I started arranging my die cut floral embellishments from the Sweet Soirée Embellishment kit it took about four to fit around the frames cut out. I popped each die cut up on two Stampin’ Dimensionals going around the circle opening to create the wreath. I added a triple bow tied with linen thread using a mini glue dot.
What’s On the Inside:
I used the circle framelits to cut a window opening in the card front. This is so instead of having the sentiment on the outside it is actually on the inside of the card and you can see it through the floral wreath. This little change allowed for a big wow factor with no effort at all. Here’s a look at the inside of the card.
I added the sentiment in Flirty Flamingo classic ink (which I’m sure you’ve heard by now is retiring a a new core color in the 2018 Annual Catalog as part of the Color Revamp. By the way I cannot be more excited because of that. The sentiment is stamped on a piece of Whisper white that I cut out using the second largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I mated it on the die cut circle that came from the Wood texture designer series paper from the front of the card. Waste not want not! To tie in the flowers and the other colors I used a little strip of Old olive Cardstock attached to the bottom and one of the single floral die cuts from the embellishment kit.
Dress it Up!:
To dress the envelope up a little (because you all know I’m going to) I used a piece of the same wood texture designer series paper on the flap of the envelope; as well as another of the single flowers from the embellishment kit.
This time I took it a little bit further by adding one of the matching die cuts to the wreath to the front of the envelope right next to where the recipients address and name will go. I love to add a little hint to what will be on the inside on the envelope. It makes it so much more fun to get things in the mail don’t you think?
