Hello friends, today I am going to share with you a oldie but a goodie technique. I used the baby wipe technique to create the card I am going to share with you today. It was inspired by the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. This technique is so easy, it just requires a baby wipe, some ink refills. I like to put my baby wipe in a clear DVD case to contain the ink. Basically you are creating your own stamp pad with multiple colors. I picked the Heart Happiness Photopolymer stamp set to use on my card today. Here’s a look at one of the cards I created.
How it Works:
As I said this is a easy technique to do. You need a baby wipe (ones without a pattern works best), some reinkers, and a clear DVD case. You start out with the DVD case and place the baby wipe inside folded up a couple times. Once you have this done you are going to add a few drops of reinkers. I picked the following colors; Powder Pink, Rich Razzle Berry, Calypso Coral, and Flirty Flamingo. These all come from the same side of the color wheel so they will all work well together. The only thing you really don’t want to do is pick colors on both sides of the color wheel, they will produce muddy colors. Once I had a few drops of the reinkers (starting with the darkest colors adding a few drops, I then worked my way to the lightest colors repeating the process) on the baby wipe; this has now became my stamp pad.
This technique works great with a stamp set that has bold imagery. You, want a set that has nice solid images to pick up a ink. This is one of the reasons why the Heart Happiness Stamp Set is a great choice for this technique. Not to mention this stamp set has a number of great images that can be used for this technique. This is a stamp set full of hearts—you can never have enough of those, can you?
Once you have the stamp set inked up you just stamp the image on your cardstock. I have not had any problem stamping this on regular whisper white cardstock, like you would think since this is a rather wet technique. I’ve never had a problem with there being to much ink and making the paper buckle.
After I do finish my stamping I will let the cardstock dry a little bit. Usually when I do the baby wipe technique I will stamp enough images for more then one card. This allows for time for all the images to dry, because by the time I am done stamping the first images are dry.
I ran the stamped images through the Big Shot to cut them out, using either the heart from the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies or the Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Big Shot, the images in this stamp set are easy to cut out on your own.
I was inspired by the background paper that I used on the card to use this technique it gives me the feel of this technique. Plus you have the swatches of gold in the background paper. This creates a big wow factor without having to do any work because Stampin’ Up! has done all the work for us. I added the Calypso Coral shimmer ribbon from the Saleabration Shimmer Ribbon Pack. In the back you get three rolls of ribbon in three sizes and colors. You can get yours free by making a $50 purchase (before taxes and shipping) in my online store. Here’s a list of products you can purchase to recreate the card from today and get the ribbon for Free!
Thanks for dropping by today. I hope that you give this quick technique a try and have a wonderful week.
