Hello and welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop. This month’s kit was titled Flora & Flutter and was so stinking cute. It was so much fun just putting the kit together as is, but was so much fun coming up with a couple alternative projects. When I saw the kit my head was spinning with ideas to use the extra pieces for something interesting. When it came down to it I came up with a shaker card and a peak through card. I mixed supplies from this month’s kit with some new products from the Occasions Catalog that goes live January 3. Here’s a look at the cards i created this month.
Shake it Up:
The first thing that I thought of was a shaker card using the card base, and the off set leaf die cut that was one of the messed up ones. I started out by stamping the mermaids from Magical Day Stamp set from the Occasions Catalog. Once I had them all stamped (well actually I stamped the dragon and flame also at this time) I colored all of the images with my Stampin’ Blends. Once I had everything colored I cut them out using the Magical Mates Framelits dies.
I took the Lemon Lime twist leaf die cut and added a little fast fuse around the edge and placed a window sheet that I cut to size on top. Then I added the Foam Adhesive strips around the edges. I put a piece of the Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper and placed it behind the card base and placed the white insert the same way the Paper Pumpkin kit was intended. Added a few sequins to the inside of the shaker part and then added one of the mermaids and two of the seahorses. I put the card together and it turned out so cute.
The next project I came up with was featured the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Dragon that I had cut out and colored. I placed the Specialty Designer Paper behind the first set of leaves and placed the knight were it looked like he would be looking through at the dragon. I added the Lemon Lime twist piece on top. To finish the card I added the banner after stamping Happy Birthday, I placed the banner behind the dragon.
To finish off both cards I stamped the envelopes, for the mermaid card I stamped the leaf from the Flora and Flutter stamp set in Lemon Lime twist and the bubbles from Magical Day stamp set in Berry Burst(which came in this month’s kit).
For the Dragon Card I stamped the same leaf in Lemon Lime twist but I stamped the dragon and knight in Berry Burst on the flap.
