Thanks for dropping by today for this weeks Paper Craft Crew’s Challenge. This weeks challenge is a Inspiration Challenge (I will share with you shortly the inspiration image), and a two week challenge. An inspiration challenge is a little different then most other challenges. With this challenge we draw inspiration from the inspiration image it my be just bits and pieces from this image that inspires you to create a project. Here’s the card I created for this weeks challenge.
The inspiration image for this weeks challenge is below.
I started my card for today by heat embossing the two snowflakes on some watercolor paper. Once that had cooled I took my Red Brusho Crystal color and sprinkled it around each snowflake. I then spritzed each section of color and let the color melt around. Once this was dry I added a little more color to one of my clear blocks and added water with my aqua painter and let it dry again.
I repeated this same process for the yellow ornament. Once I had them all complete and each color had dried I cut each one out using the Layering Circle Framelits Dies. I picked two circles one just
slightly larger. Once I had all three cut out I then added a little more of the Brusho to my clear block and then took my aqua painter and created a watercolor wash and added just a little more color to each ornament. Once this dried I added some shadows to each ornament using a mix of the red and Prussian Blue on the red ornaments and Gamboge on the yellow one. Once this layer dried I added just a little more shadow to each ornament. This time on the yellow I added just a little bit of the red violet color that I mixed to the Gamboge after rewetting the paper and letting it dry.
Once each piece of watercolor paper was completely bone dry I used the circle dies and cut each out. I then created a cardbase with a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock and cut it to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. I then took a piece of the Wood Texture Designer Series Paper and cut it down to 3 3/4 x 5. I stamped the Merry Christmas from Our House to yours in Tranquil Tide Classic Ink at the top left hand side. I then layered this onto a piece of Gold Foil cut to 5 1/4 x 4 which I layered on my cardbase. I added some ornament toppers from the retired framelits set Merry Tag Framelit Dies out of gold foil and attaching them with mini glue dots. I added some strings with the Stampin’ Up! journaling pens.
Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you will take time during the next two weeks and play along with us at the Paper Craft Crew. You can view all the cards created by the design team by clicking on the inspiration image above or by clicking on the link here.
