When I first saw this color challenge for the Paper Craft Crew I thought what in the world am I going to do. It took me a long time to figure out what I could do with this color combination. But, finally I figured it out. Here’s a look at my card today.
Here’s the card that shows the color scheme.
Tips & Tricks:
To start out I colored a piece of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper, with a brayer and a Cajun Craze ink pad (see the video on the how to). If you use the sponge brayer you will have to go over it many times; then use a stampin’ sponge to coat the paper until it’s completely covered. This was cut down to 3 3/4 x 5. It’s easier to start out a little larger then cut the Designer series paper down then starting smaller and having a bent or torn edge that you didn’t want.
This was layered on a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock cut to 5 1/4 x 4 which was put on the card base of Very Vanilla. I stamped the wonderful tree from the Season like Christmas stamp set starting with the tree trunk in Soft suede Classic ink. Next I stamped the fullest tree image in Lemon Lime Twist classic ink. After that I inked up the stamp with the less amount of branches in Tranquil Tide classic ink. By doing this it represents the light and dark in the nature. I used the largest stitched oval from the Stitched shapes framelits to cut out the tree. I then cut a scalloped oval out of tranquil tide and placed the tree on top using dimensionals. To finish off the card I stamped the wishing you a sentiment after masking off the rest of it in Cajun Craze and punched it out using the Classic label punch then using the punch again to create flagged ends. I popped it up on the mini stampin’ dimensionals. To finish off the card I stamped the tree three more times on the inside and stamped happy birthday from the Feather Together Stamp Set right above them.
