This week’s sketch challenge at the Paper Craft Crew is a great one. I reached for the Host exclusive set Merry Patterns to create my card this week. It is filled with great two step stamping images that are so festive that you will be ready to make Christmas cards all year long. Here’s a look at today’s card.
Here’s the sketch for this week’s Sketch Challenge.
I used cardstock from the Be Merry Cardstock Pack to create this card. The cardstock pack are created to coordinate with some of the Designer Series Paper and they make it so much easier to create your cards. Each pack has 8 sheets of three different color cardstocks that coordinate with the coordinating designer paper. The Be Merry Cardstock Pack comes with Thick Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, and Garden Green cardstock all of which are in the Be Merry Designer Series Paper. I used just the cardstock out of this pack to create this card.
I took my Garden Green Cardstock and dry embossed it using the Holly Texture Impression Embossing Folder. Once this was done I took my Garden Green ink pad and just swiped the pad across it in different directions. This leaves some areas with more ink and some with less ink depending on where I run it across. I really love the textural look and the different hues it creates on the raised images. I matted this on a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut at about 4 1/2″ and a piece of the Be Merry Designer Series Paper cut at 1/2. I attached them both together with a little snail adhesive. The embossed piece is attached with a little Fast Fuse Adhesive. I then cut a piece of the Thick Whisper White to 2″ x 3 1/2 and punched out the banner using the Banner Triple Punch (this is my go to for banners.) I then stamped the out line of the candles and used the two coordinating stamps to stamp the candles in Garden Green a
nd Cherry Cobbler. I stamped the Merry Christmas right under. I used some Crushed Curry to stamp the flame with the third coordinating stamp. To finish off the card I popped the banner up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added three of the Crushed Curry Glitter Dots one in each shade to the side of the banner.
To finish off the card I used the Holly Texture Impression Embossing Folder to emboss the envelope flap. You want to line the flap up against the edge of the envelope and place it in the Big Shot where it fits all the way across the platform and run it through. Make sure before you run it through that you have it lined up evenly and not sticking over the platform. Because if you run it and it’s sticking slightly over it will break it clean in half.
So the colors for my card were pulled form the Be Merry Designer Series Paper and I added the Crushed Curry (which represents Gold) to add a little more richness to the card. I love this color combination for Christmas Cards they are so regal and traditional for the season.
