Today I am sharing a card made with one of the host only sets from the 2017 Annual Catalog. I’ve had this stamp set since June but haven’t had time to play with this stamp set, among others. So I took and pulled all the stamp sets that I have not used and placed them on the bottom shelf of my Raskog cart. This way they are right there beside me so that I can see them and they are at hands reach so that I will use them. So I pulled this set this weekend and started playing with it. This is the card that I came up with.
Tips & Tricks:
I want you to notice the shading on the flowers on the background of the cardbase. I created this very simply actually. I stamped all the images using Tangerine Tango Classic Ink and then took my Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Marker and started coloring in the darkest area. I then took a blender pen and pulled out the color to the other areas. I did each different flower one at a time before moving on to the next. This can take a little bit more time but It makes for a dramatic impact. I tried this same technique on my whisper white piece but it didn’t work as well, so it was easier just to color in each area with the markers. But, the shadowing technique worked great on the colored cardstock. Once this was completed I used the big shot and cut out the bird that I colored using the stitched shapes framelits and a scalloped square using the Layering Square framelits. Popping this layer up on the front of the card was just what this cut little card needed and the shadow coloring technique makes for a big impact.
To add a completed look to this card you all know that I think you should do something to the envelope and a little something to the inside if you can. I stamped the flower image on the envelope flap and colored them in using Lemon Lime Twist, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, and Tangerine Tango.
I used the same colors on the bird that I stamped on the inside of the card. It was just to cute not to put it in.
