Today’s card is a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) from a very old Catalog. I have a few of the old catalogs that I got from a friend and I kept them not for the products but for the card layouts. The Stampin’ Up! Catalogs are also Idea books, to help you come up with your card ideas. So I thought I have these catalogs from the early 2000’s and late 1999 let’s look through them and find a layout that I liked. So it was hard not to look at the style of the stamp set instead of the card design, but I found a lot in them once I let myself go and just look at the design layouts. Here is a look at today’s card.
Tips & Tricks:
I love the torn edge of the Tangerine Tango cardstock peaking out. I really do love texture on a card and have actually forgotten how much I do love it. I love that you have the four colors coming through on the card. These are all the colors I used to stamp my images. Some are stamped using ink pads and others are stamped using the Tangerine Tango and Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Markers. I did stamp the flowers using my Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad. To get them cut out I just fussy cut them around the edges and popped them up using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also used my Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write marker to draw in the faux stitching line at the bottom of the Whisper White piece. The original card design had real stitching there but I have to find and set up my sewing machine to be able to do this. So it was easier to do the faux stitching and looks just as good.
One of the best parts about this card is that most of it uses scrap cardstock from my scrap drawers. The Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, and Pear Pizzazz cardstock are all scrap pieces that I just cut to fit the card front. I have found myself looking for ways to use up these pieces a lot more and this card is a great way to do just that. At the bottom of the Pool Party piece I stamped the Thinking of you sentiment using my Tranquil Tide stampin’ write maker. Then I tied the Tranquil Tide finely woven ribbon into a simple knot to add even more texture to this card.
Whole Lot of Lovely:
The Lots of Love Stamp Set (which I used on my card yesterday you can see that post by clicking here) is one of my most have sets from the Annual catalog. This stamp set is part of the Whole Lot of Lovely Suite which you can find on pages 86 and 87 of the Annual Catalog. I just love this entire suite of products; I did when I first saw it back in April at OnStage in Savannah. It features elegant greenery stamps that look grand in any variety of colors or you can class it up with touches of black and gold. When the greenery is paired with the all-occasions sayings you are differently feeling the love even more. This stamp set comes in classic red rubber in both clear mount and wood mount options. The red rubber stamps are deeply etched so you get a superior stamped impression everytime. This stamp set contains 11 images that can be mismatched for endless stamping options.
The colors that I picked to create this card were pulled from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series paper. Even though I did not use any of the Designer series paper on this card I still can pull from the color combinations on the DSP for countless options. So if you are having trouble deciding on colors look at the designer series paper on pages 189, 190, and 191 of the Annual Catalog to find what colors were used and pick from those. You can never go wrong this way. I have to say this again our catalogs are more than just something to order products. They are filled with endless ideas that you can pull and use. The colors I picked were Tranquil Tide, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, and Pear Pizzazz.
