Good morning on this  beautiful Saturday, today is the first day of July and that means that it’s the Blogging Friends Blog hop today.  This month we are all sharing watercolor techniques with you.  There are so many different techniques that you can do with watercolors, from basic watercoloring to watercolor resists, to smooching and many many more.  Here’s a look at my card.

Flirty Flowers, Clear Block E, Watercolor Smooching, Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine, Basic Black Archival Ink, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Up!, Watercolor Technique, #rickadkins, #rckinsmonstudio

Technique:

To create this background technique it really isn’t very hard, it just takes a little time.   I created the background with a Clear Block sized E, three ink pads (Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Pear Pizzazz), & a Stampin’ Spritzer.  I  took a piece

Flirty Flowers, Clear Block E, Watercolor Smooching, Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine, Basic Black Archival Ink, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Up!, Watercolor Technique, Stampin’ Rhinestones, Stampin; Spritzer, #rickadkins, #rckinsmonstudio

of Shimmery White Cardstock (cut at 3 3/4 x 5) and spritzed it with a little water.  I took the ink pads starting with Soft Sky and pressed it onto the clear E block about half way down on the block.  Next, I pressed the Pear Pizzazz ink pad on the bottom half of the clear block.  Then I took the Marina Mist ink pad and pressed it onto the top 1/3 of the block.  After all the pressing I sprayed the block with water and pressed it onto the wet paper.  I let it sit on the wet paper for a few minutes once I lifted the block off the cardstock I took a tissue and barely placed it in the pool of inky water and let it dry.

Once it was completely dried I stamped the solid images from Flirty Flowers in basic black archival ink.   After that I trimmed off the white edges.  I matted it with a very thin piece of Basic Black cardstock and matted that on a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock cut to 1/4″ mat around.   I added some Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine around the bottom and tied a bow.  I then popped this piece up on Stampin’ Dimensionals on my cardbase (which is cut to 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2).

To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink and added three rhinestones in each size to the top.   I stamped the inside of the card with one of the same images that I used on the outside of the card in basic black.

I also stamped both images on the card to the front of the envelope.  So that it tied in the card and created a complete stationary.
