Summer is here, and that means flowers flowers and more flowers. So in honor of the start of Summer this weeks episode of Stampin’ On The Porch with Rick (my weekly Facebook live) I created a card using Fresh Fig and Berry Burst featuring one of my favorite new stamp sets Floral Statements. I asked people on my Facebook page which of the new in colors they liked the best, and the one with the most comments I would use in the card that I was doing on Tuesday. It was a tie with the comments, between Berry Burst and Fresh Fig so I used both on the my card. Here’s a look at my card.
Tips & Tricks:
The card is a standard size card. Most of the time the Lattice edge is on the side of the card, but I turned it on it’s side and made it a top folding Lattice Card. Stamp the floral sentiment in the darkest colored ink. I used Fresh Fig on Berry Burst Cardstock. I wanted the Berry Burst to act as the mid tone value of the card, so I used the Fresh Fig as the darkest shadows. I used the White and Rich Razzelberry Watercolor pencils as regular colored pencils. I started with the white pencil and very lightly colored the areas that I wanted to be the highlighted areas. Once that was done I switched to the Rich Razzelberry pencil and softened the dark areas a little and very lightly moved out just a little. I then came back into the white areas with a little stronger in the highlight areas. I added another level of the highlights in certain areas to make it pop. I did the same thing with the shadow areas and darkened up the midtones a little more.
Rich Razzelberry and Berry Burst are very close in colors. Rich Razzelberry is just slightly brighter and darker in value and hue then Berry Burst. They are so close that if I put them on a color scale they would be right next together on the scale. I know that this doesn’t mean most of you that have not been to art school. The color scale is a group of about ten colors in the same color hue in ten different values ranging from light to darkest.
