My sweet husband asked me to design a retirement card for a friend a few weeks back. So having never met her I didn’t know anything about her; what she likes, some of her favorite things. I always take these things into consideration when I am designing a card for someone. So after a few questions and a little research I came up with the design for the card. Here’s a look at today’s card.
So I found out during my question period that she liked, sold, and collected Plunder Jewelry. So this gave me a starting point to do a little research on what Plunder Jewelry was and what she liked. So I pulled a few pictures from the internet for inspiration. Here’s a look at the images I pulled.
I pulled the bird and the crushed curry color from the bird charm, as well as the Pool Party. I pulled the B from the other image Pendent. The B was picked because her first name starts with B. So it was perfect that it was a pendent. All the colors for the card were pulled from their jewelry.
Since the jewelry are vintage inspired I did sponge the edge of the card to add a little vintage feel to the card.
I used some of the same elements on the inside of the card as I did on the outside. I did use the inside sentiment from Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. I also stamped the birds in Crushed Curry on the envelope to tie everything in.
This isn’t really a hard card to do it was just a lot of layering and stamping, and a little time consuming. The first thing I did was stamp all the background images in Crushed Curry and Pool Party. Next I die cut one of the birds from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits, and then the B was die cut using Large Letter framelits. I attached the B using the foam strips until the Melon Mambo cardstock which was popped up on a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals I punched a small hole at the top and ran some gold twine (retired) through it and attached it to the back of the card front like it was a necklace hanging from the card.
