If you have answered yes to any of the questions in the title of this post then I am not surprised, because there are a ton on new items.   There are new stamps, new kits, knew suite, and more.  All of the New can be overwhelming and confusing.  You are not alone.   There’s so much that it hurts to try and figure out what you want.   I know I have had a huge problem trying to figure out what I needed (shhh I mean Want).   There’s a lot.  I sat down yesterday and the day before to work out a wish list.  Well let’s just say I was only half way through the 200+ pages and was already at two pages of things I need.   So I know that as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator if I have had this much problems then I know that everyone else has had this much problem or even more to pick items that they love.   So I am going to share some things that may help you make this process a little easier.

Where to start:

Well first of all you have to start in the front of the catalog.   If you notice on the first page you will see Shelli’s Message.  Next is a Table of content.  This is a great place to start!  If you know you are looking for stamps for a certain occasion then you can turn to that page.  If you are looking for ink you know where to turn.  The Table of contents page is my go to.  If I still feel overwhelmed I go to the back of the book and start going through the Stamp Index.  The Index of the catalog is broken down into two different categories.   First you have the Stamp Index which list all the stamps in the catalog by name and page number.   Next you have the Greeting Stamp Index this lists all the new stamps that focus on Greetings and shows you an image of the stamp set as well as the name, page number, and type of stamps they are (wood mount, clear mount, photopolymer) as well as the item number.  This is my go to page when  I am searching for a certain thing that I want to use on a card, or when I am searching for something and I am not quite sure what I am looking for.

You are going to want to write down all those wonderful things that you are wanting.  Here’s a wish list that you can download to make that easier.  Rick’s Shopping Wish List  On this wish list you are going to want to write do the item number, name, price, and page number of the item you want as you flip through the catalog.   I make a couple of these lists.  I make one for the things that I have to have.  Then I go back through that list with my catalog and write down the things I have to have now. On another one I write down what I need next off my list.  This helps me know what I am wanting and what I plan on getting down the line.  You can even break the lists down by months and print off one for each month.   The wish lists make it easy to know what you want to get and what you want when there’s so much that you just have to have.   These make it so much easier I just stick them through out my catalog by month so that I know what I am going to get on my orders.   Do I change things yes so I just make a note on the next month’s list if I didn’t order something that was on the list.  Or it gives me a way to reevaluate that item.  Maybe I don’t love it as much now as I did when I first saw it.

Kits:

Let’s talk about kits.  Kits are a great way to create projects fast and easy.  We have three different kind of kits in the catalog.  We have the All-Inclusive Kits, By Subscription Kits, and Project kits.

All Inclusive Kits:

These kits are perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike, especially since all the supplies you need are included.  You will have to add in your favorite adhesive sometimes with these, but they come with(depending on the kit if one is needed) stamp sets, blocks, and an ink spot.  Super easy right.   Here’s a look at a couple of these types of kits.  The first one is the returning Oh Happy Day Card kit.  The next image is the New Soft Sayings Card kit.  Each kit you can make 20 cards with all the products cut scored and ready to put together.   The Soft Sayings Kit also has a refill available for ordering which includes everything except the stamp set, block, box, and ink spot.

By Subscription Kits:

These are the monthly subscriptions to Paper Pumpkin.  Which is a wonderful kit that comes mailed each month with everything in the box ready to go.  Each month you get a new kit, with a stamp set and matching ink spot and all the supplies cut and ready to go.   These are only $19.99 plus tax each month.  You can subscribe to this by clicking the image below.   You can also by subscriptions and give as gifts.  They come one month, three months, six months, and 12 months you can visit this page to learn more.

Project Kits:

Project kits have just the items to make the cards or project they do not include ink, or the stamp set.  You have to purchase them by themselves or you can use them for a party and have me bring all the other things to do the kit.

Cost Saving Bundles:

The next thing I go for are the cost saving bundles.  These are stamps and matching items that work together that Stampin’ Up! has put together.  Some have Framelits or thinlits, and others have punches.   The Birthday Delivery Bundle (on Page 69) includes the stamp set, framelits, and Designer Series Paper for one price, so be aware of that.   When you purchase the bundles you save 10% off the regular retail price of both items.   So that’s great right there and is why I try to go for them first.   This catalog has 39 bundles inside some or wood mount, some are clear mount, and some are photopolymer.  So it’s just a matter of which style of stamps do you like best.   Here’s a look at all the bundles.

Things are sweeter in Suites:

After I look at the bundles and pick out the ones that I want and write them down I then go to Suites.  Suites are groups of coordinating products that Stampin’ Up! has put together that all work together.  There are 15 different suites in this catalog.  Some have Bundles in them but others do not.   So I pick out the items that I like from the suites, and write them all down.

Stamps Ink and Paper:

After all that I go back through the catalog and write down the stamps that are not in bundles, or suites that I have to have.  As well as all inks, papers, ribbons, embellishments, and tools.  Tomorrow I will share with you some of my must have favorite stamp sets and other things that I just have to have.

I hope that this walk through of my ordering process helped you if you are having problems picking items from the new catalog.  If you have any problems or questions please feel free to contact me.  I am glad to help and answer any questions on products that you may have.  Remember that you can order 24/7 in my online store by clicking here, or by clicking on the shop tab above.  Don’t forget to download the wish list above to print off and write things down.  If you don’t have a couple of the current catalog you can download it by clicking on the catalog image in the side bar of my blog.  I send a free copy to my customers that have placed an order with me in the last six months.  If you are not my customer and would like to be all I ask is you place any size order in my online store and I will send you a free copy with your thank you packet, or if you are not sure yet, all I ask is that you reimburse me the shipping cost for the catalog.
