Hello stampers, crafters and friends I hope that you are having a wonderful day.  Today, I am sharing my card for the Paper Craft Crew’s weekly sketch challenge, this week the sketch is all about metallic elements.   So I started thinking what could I do to add in this feature.   So I went to the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper as my starting point.   Sadly this paper is now on the current retirement list which was released Monday, if you have not seen it yet you can view my post about it here!   I have loved this paper since it came out last year, it’s so bright and cheerful.   Here’s a look at my card for today.

Here’s the sketch card for this week’s challenge.

Tips & Tricks:

I took the Designer Series Paper and pulled all my colors from it.  For example I used Watermelon Wonder as my cardbase (extremely sad to see it retiring, this was one of my favorite 2015-2017 Incolors).   Next I cut out the butterfly and cut it again out in the copper foil paper.  To keep the sketches down on the foil paper I ran a piece of copy paper between the die and the plate.  Next I took a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock (just a scrap big enough to place behind the butterfly) and stamped it using the Playful backgrounds stamp sent in Mint Macaron classic ink.  This was layered down behind the Designer Series paper which is a little thicker then the standard designer series paper because it had the copper on it.  I adhered both pieces down on my cardbase and once this was done I could work on placing the butterfly.  Not that it was had since it fit right into place.   I used the glue and sponge trick to add tombow glue on the back of the copper butterfly and put it into place.  Next I added  the antennas to the butterfly from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set in versamark and copper embossing powder and set it.  I also heat embossed the sentiment (I am not sure what stamp set I used for the sentiment since I created this card over a month ago), and cut it out using the stitched shaped framelits.  I also used the layering circle framelits and cut out a scalloped circle and place behind it.  I popped this up on dimensionals and added some copper thread to the back letting it catch in the sticky on the back of the dimensionals.  I placed it on the card front.

Color Combination:

Here’s a look at the colors that are the main ones in the card.

These are great colors and can stand on their on as well as they work wonderful together or with most other colors.  I encourage you to play around with these and see what you can pair with them.  Also if you want the Watermelon Wonder or Mint Macaron you need to get them before they are gone.  The retirement list was released yesterday and usually the retiring Incolors don’t last very long.   As of this post they are still available (and the cardstock is discounted).
