Good morning my friends, a few weekends ago myself and three fellow demonstrators (Charity Wright, Thelma Collins, and Jane Stull) held our retreat.   This year we made changes based on survey  results from last years retreat.    We also had changed the name to Rocket City Retreat.  Since it was held and we are all in the Rocket City (Huntsville, Al) area.  We had a wonderful time.

This years retreat was for demonstrators only.  Which was one of the changes we made. We created the event so that they would have three complete workshops that they could go back to their own studios and teach right away.  We picked products from the new Occasions catalog for them to play with.  Each attendee recieved a goodie bag which contained products they could use during the day (plus take the extra home with them) and each person got a set of the new fabulous watercolor pencils.

It was a fun exciting and wonderful event.  We held a card contest where the attendees voted on their favorite cards that people that wanted to take part could enter.   Here’s a look at the cards entered that day.

The best overall card that received the most votes (from attendees) belonged to Kim and she won a set of The Many Marvelous Markers.  Congratulations Kim.  Below she is pictured with her prize and winning card design.

During the day we also did raffles where each person went home with a wonderful prize, ranging from ribbon, designer series paper, stamp sets, framelits and more.   But, we also did two prize patrols were each person also got the new very vanilla ribbon and the sprinkles embellishments from the Occasions catalog.

This year we themed everything around birthdays since this is one of the cards that people use most and we all need.   Here’s a look at the projects.

Each set of projects were based on our theme but geared toward different types of classes they could teach.  We did sections on fancy fold cards, a section on gift card & money holders, and a section just on using the watercolor pencils for beginners.  With each card using a different technique from basic to a little more advanced.    I also presented a power point on more advanced watercoloring techniques as well as adding watercoloring tools we have at Stampin’ Up!   I have each person hints and tips on what inks and papers could be used with what media as well.

During the day we had a wonderful lunch provided by UAH’s food staff.   We got to pick some of the items for lunch but they picked the deserts we had.   Here’s a few pictures of lunch that was provided.

They did a wonderful job with the food and we could not have been more pleased.   Below is a picture of Thelma and I at lunch.

We also announced our dates for next year and that we have arranged to have a top demonstrator come and do a business talk for us.    I’m not revealing who will be coming yet, but I will tell you see was in the top 100 globally in the company for sales, leadership, and recruiting.  And we are super excited she’s joining us next year.   If you are a demonstrator and would like to take part in this fun event next year mark your calendars for March 3 2018. It will be a blast.

Thanks for dropping by today I hope you have a wonderful weekend.   Happy stamping.   Special thanks to Thelma for her photos during the day to share with you all.
