Hello stampers, crafters, and friends. Today, my post is for the Paper Craft Crew weekly design challenge. This week we have had a wonderful time playing with this weeks sketch that I will share with you in just a little while. If you follow my blog you know how important I think joining in on challenges are. If your new to cardmaking and paper arts; challenges are a great way to improve your design, cardmaking skills. Sketches allow you to have a starting point but lets you have full creative output. Not to mention, that they are extremely fun. Here’s my card for this weeks sketch challenge.
This card was created using serval different supplies, but we will get into that in a little while. First let’s look at this weeks sketch.
TIPS & Tricks:
Once I figured out what stamp set I wanted to use for this weeks challenge everything just fell into place. I had just gotten the Country Living stamp set when I sat down to work on this weeks challenge, so I thought why not use it. So I studied the set and some of the images were to big and one was just the right size. No bears needed. I went with the boot for my focal image which I stamped and cut out using the layering circle framelits. Once cut out I needed to color it so I used some of my neutral stampin’ write markers to color them in. So once this was done my card needed a little something more.
Once I picked the boots I knew that I wanted to go with the country theme. I had to think what could I do to the background that would go along with this theme; and I thought of the Hardwood background stamp. And knew that with the way hardwoods make you feel it made for the perfect pick. We all know that when you walk into a house and see hardwood floors, you instantly drool. You can get that same reaction to your cards with this background stamp. The large size is ideal for backgrounds, or you can stamp it, then cut out an accent from the stamped image.
Once I stamped this stamp set I knew that the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper had a gingham pattern or two in the designs. This paper features so great patterns some are very subtle while others feature a bold color. What does this mean for you well it means more options for your projects from one pack of Designer Series Paper. Coordinating colors for this pack of Designer series are: Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Old Olive, Sweet Sugarplum, Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White. So it popped in my head what’s more country well according to all the old TV Westerns my dad used to watch on Saturday afternoons.
Monochromatic with just a POP of color:
I wanted to keep the card more monochromatic with just one pop of color so I went with the Tip Top Taupe cardbase, and stamped the hardwood stamp in Tip Top Taupe classic ink on whisper white since I haven’t used it in a while. To keep the monochromatic color scheme going I picked the Tip Top Taupe Gingham and cut it to 1 1/2 x 3 3/4. I matted it on a piece of Tip Top Taupe cut at 3 7/8 x 1 5/8 inches. I then cut another piece of Tip Top Taupe cardstock to measure 3 x 3/4″ and a placed a piece of the Gingham on that that was actually a piece that was cut off from the larger piece on my card. It’s about 1/4″ x 3 if you wanted to know the measurement. I layered all this together first, and got everything adhered when I put the focal image on in it’s place.
