Hello my friends I hope that you are having a wonderful day today. Today my project is for the Global Design Project’s sketch challenge. Their sketch challenge this week is a very versatile! They give you free range to move things around or change elements. Here’s my card for the challenge.
Here’s this weeks sketch for #GDP070.
My card this week focuses on my year long goal of drawing more attention to sending out more birthday cards. So I actually started out making another card for this challenge, but once I finished it. I didn’t like it so I started over. I decided to create a birthday card instead.
Tips & Tricks:
To create the row of colorful candles at the bottom of the card I used the new Candle Border Punch (that you may have missed like I did the first time I looked at the Occasions catalog it’s hidden at the bottom of page 7). I used the Party Animal Designer Series Paper behind the border of candles. I cut small strips using the DSP at (1/2″ x 5″ & 1/4″ x 5″). This is a great way to use scraps of the Designer Series Paper that you used on other projects.
When I started laying the card it it just wasn’t popping. It needed something, so I thought about many different things, but finally I went with a simple very very thin mat of Basic Black. This made the top layer pop of the striped Designer Series Paper.
To tie the inside of the card in to the outside I used the same Designer series paper that was used on the front both on the little stripes and behind the candles. Both my sentiments came from the Designer Tee Sale-A-Bration stamp set. I just love the image on the inside it makes me giggle. And even better I got it for FREE since it was a Sale-A-Bration Item.
Here’s another look at my card for today.
Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you enjoyed my card. I also hope that you check out all the cards created for the Global Design Projects Sketch challenge this week; you can check them all out by clicking here!
