Hello my friends, welcome to the first One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop of the year! We are all super excited to be sharing with you the wonderful projects created by each blog hop member. Each month we have a different themed hop where we share a card and a Dimensional project, that comes to you the second Thursday each month. We all love sharing with you our creations, and hope that you enjoy each as you hop along.
This month’s theme was No Rules New Year: I found this to be a hard one to come up with. I kept thinking of your typical New Year things and it just wasn’t right. I wanted something that was a little different for me. So here’s a look at the projects that I came up with.
I went back and forth with what to create and what products to use (since there are so many great products in the new Occasions catalog). I finally settled with the new Lift Me Up Bundle (in the Occasions catalog), and the Carried Away Designer Series Paper (from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure). I find it a little easier to create the dimensional project this time and then create the card, normally I work in reveres. Once I figured out what I wanted to use the project came easy. I had been thinking about this table decor since I saw this bundle at OnStage Local in Atlanta.
Let’s Set the Table:
We all need decor for parties. We need decor for New Year’s Eve, birthdays, all sort of parties. When you paper craft you can create your own decor to match the handmade cards that you created (and you save money). Here’s the table decor that I created for a New Year’s/Birthday Party.
I created the box and added the Designer series paper to the outside to decorate and to carry the theme. I added the paper of the ariel images to the bottom of the box and the clouds on the open flaps. I wanted to place the paper this way to give the feel of the hot air balloons floating through the sky. This was not created to have the items in the sky pop up but to be up all the time since it was created as table decor. The hot air balloons are all suspended using window sheet pieces so that they look like they are floating. I did this also with the cards and numbers.
Here are a few different views of the table decor.
For my card I used the same Lift Me Up bundle and the Carried Away designer series paper. I wanted to create a card that was similar but not the exact same as the table decor. Here’s a look at my card.
I used the same colors as I did on the box, which I pulled the color scheme from the Carried Away Designer Series paper. Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Whisper white, Basic Black, Night of Navy, and Peekaboo Peach. As you all know Watermelon Wonder is one of my favorite colors and I am going to be very sad when it retires in June.
The colors in the paper are a great mix of neutrals, subtels, Regals, and brights. It’s the perfect combination of colors.
Adding the black mats around the stamped panel and the cloud dsp draw attention to those areas. See how the front pops off the page with these additions. Let’s look at the inside of the card where I didn’t use the black.
Notice how the front of the card pops more than the inside. I did this because I wanted the attention more on the Happy Birthday sentiment. I didn’t want to use basic black ink to achieve this but I wanted to use the darkest colors in the grouping. By using the Night of Navy it was dark enough to draw attention to the sentiment but not as dark as the basic black that you are drawn only to the words and not the stamped images.
