Today is a big day it is not only the Day nine in my 9 days of Sale-A-Bration event, but it is also the day the new Occasions Catalog launches and to make it even sweeter it is the launch of a new design Challenge by the Paper Craft Crew. So today my card serves triple duty. Let’s have a look at this weeks sketch challenge from the Paper Craft Crew shall we.
You can click on the image above and be taken to the Paper Craft Crew website and check out all the cards that the design team has created for this challenge. I know you will enjoy them, as much as I did. If you have ever looked at my blog you know I am a big advocate for Challenges: I think they are really important if you are not comfortable designing or if you want to improve your skills. I encourage you to play along with this weeks challenge. Here’s a look at the card I created using products from the Occasions catalog, for this weeks challenge.
Tips & Tricks:
This card is packed full of products that’s in the Occasions catalog. So lets talk about the Falling Petals embossing folder first shall we. This 6 x 6 embossing folder makes is so easy to make a big impression! This embossing folder makes deep clean impressions that are great for card fronts or as an accent.
The soft sky flower detailed image was created using the So Detailed Thinlits Dies. These dies create Precision detailed cut images that can be used as belli bands, details on the card (like I did today), or as part of the cards that will add a detail to your card that can not be matched. I had great luck using the new big shot platform to cut the cardstock without any of the pieces sticking. Stampin’ Up! suggests using the Precision Base Platform with these dies. You will get three different dies each will give you a different look.
On the inside of the card I used both the stamp set and the thinlits. This let me carry the look of the outside on the inside. I stamped the images in Blushing Bride classic ink on matching cardstock to create a tone on tone image. The thinlit on the inside matches the Falling petals embossing folder so it was just perfect.
The color theme for the for my card was pulled from the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper. The colors featured in this double-sided paper are Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, and Sahara Sand. I added Whisper white to keep it bright and to make the cut outs pop off the page. This paper features so many designs, and many colors which in turns will lead itself to so many different uses. This pack of paper features some lacy designs, as well as some photo realistic patterns and some photo abstracted prints on one side and some more subtle prints on the other. This will be a great set for spring weddings and bridal showers.
This suite also offers a the Falling In Love Cardstock pack which is a pack of 12 x 12 cardstock in Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, and Sahara Sand. This card stock pack is not only great for cardmaking but for scrapbook layouts for babies, weddings, and spring time showers. Here’s a look at my card and a list of the main products that I used to create it.
