Hello stampers and crafters I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving holiday if you are in the US. Today I am sharing with you my card for this weeks Paper Craft Crews Color Challenge. This weeks challenge features Red, Green, & Crumb Cake. So we could use any red, any green along with Crumb Cake on our card. Here’s a look at the challenge card for this weeks challenge.
This weeks challenge colors are so perfect for Christmas. Since Christmas being just around the corner we all need a card that looks hard but is really super easy when using the right stamp set and supplies. Stampin’ Up! makes all this easy with all the wonderful coordinating products and stamp sets. Today I am sharing with you one of my favorite and must have stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog. Let me go ahead and share my card with you.
Love at First Sight:
I fell in love with this stamp set when I saw it in the catalog back in August and it was a must have as soon as I could get my hands on it. Father Christmas Stamp set was that set. I loved that we had a vintage looking Santa this year, not to even mention the very cute greeting. It was wonderful that the greeting actually created a frame around Santa; adding to the detail of the card and creating a scene in itself.
This set is a wonderful addition to anyone’s stash. It is perfect for many different techniques. It is also great for a wide range of coloring options. Each would change the feel and look of the card. You could use Stampin’ Write makers, watercolors, watercolor pencils(which would be wonderful with this set) blender pens, color pencils, not to even mention Alcohol markers. If you had a really steady hand while using alcohol markers that is.
Tips & Tricks:
I just colored it with some Stampin’ Write markers and then cut it out using the Layering Circle framelits dies. I then cut out a Garden Green Scalloped oval and attached the Santa to that popping the ovals up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the greeting frame on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 3 3/4. Once I stamped the image i went along with a blender pen and softened the edges of the frame. This added a vintage and distressed feel to the card without a lot of work. I then attached this piece to my Red Red cardbase that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4. To finish off the card I cut a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of whisper white cardstock and matted it on a piece of Garden Green cut at 3 5/8 x 5 1/8. This was then matted on a Crumb Cake piece cut at 4 x 5 1/4.
That is how simple and easy it is to put this card together. I encourage you to give it a try it really is an impressive card, but is really easy to put together. If you would like to reproduce this card you can pick up all the supplies to recreate it in my Online Store.
I hope that you play along with us this week at the Paper Craft Crew. We look forward to seeing what you create with this there colors.
