Hello Stampers and Crafters today my project is for the Paper Craft Crews weekly sketch challenge. This weeks challenge is a theme challenge. And the can be so much fun, because these types of challenges lets you go to extremes or clean and simple. So they are great for everyone. This week’s theme challenge is all about FALL. And being from the south I am so ready for fall, even when it’s been 88 degrees outside and I wore shorts to work today. Yes mid October and I am in shorts. I long for the changing leaves, cooler weather and nice crisp air. But sadly we usually only have two good days of fall weather before it turns nice and cold. But in the mean time I will take what I can get. So here’s the challenge card for this weeks challenge.
This challenge is so open to interpretation that there will be some great cards in this challenge I know. I can not wait to see what wonderful cards everyone comes up with. Speaking of what people came up with here’s my card for this weeks challenge.
My cardbase for this clean and simple card was created with Early Espresso cardstock cut at 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. I then took a piece of the Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper out of the holiday catalog cut at 2 1/2 x 4 1/4. I attached it just shy of the center of the card. To add the feeling of Fall besides the fall DSP I took some Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the leaves from Vintage Leaves stamp set in Versamark and then inked it up in Early Espresso Classic ink. At this point I coated each leaf with Clear embossing powder and heat set it. To add the wonderful fall colors that I know so well on a colorful southern fall day, I sponged on some Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze (which is also the color of the houndstooth pattern on the Designer Series paper), and added just a touch of Old Olive just to show that the leaves were just changing.
Next I inked up the small leaf in versamark and early espresso again and added clear embossing powder and heat set it. This gives the effect of etched metal. Once this was added to the other leaves I tied a bow with linen thread to added it with a mini glue dot. To finish off my card I colored three rhinestones with a copper sharpie and added it to the right hand side of the card. To finish out the visual triangle I stamped and embossed A little thanks from One Big Meaning in Copper embossing powder.
