Today’s card is one that I had worked on over the summer and I am just getting a chance to post it for you.   I wanted to play with the Moroccan Night Stamp set to see what I could do with it.  I wanted to see how many colors I could use the mandala stamp with and recreate it using paper piecing.

Well I found my inspiration for my card from a summer fashion show.  Yes I saw some of our Stampin’ Up! colors in a Bibhu Sahu runway show.  Here’s the inspiration photo.

Here’s my card that was inspired from the picture above.

Color Combination:

Tips and Tricks:

I stamped this image in each color and then fuzzy cut the parts I wanted in each color.  I adhered each piece either with snail.  You could also use Stampin dimensionals to create depth on  certain layers.  The hardest part of this card is getting the angles of the cuts just right.   And then figuring out which layer to place where.

This is where the inspiration photograph came in handy.  I used the Always Artichoke as a mat on my Basic Black card base.   Then mats in Basic Black and Perfect Plum cardstocks were created for the 3 1/8 x 3″ Whisper White cardstock that I stamped my base image on.

Paper Piecing

  • So the first step in to paper piecing is to stamp the image many times.  .  I stamped it in each of the colors multiple times so that I could cut it apart and layer it together to see which combination I liked best.
  • This makes it easy to see which color looks best against what color.
  • After you have all that figured out it’s time to put everything together and glue it down.   This is the time to decide if you want it all to be flat or to have some dimension.   After you make that choice then it’s time to jump in and glue it down.
  • Done

Finishing touch:

To finish off the card I added some Basic Black Candy Dots trying to use up some retired embellishments.    So to add a little more glamour to this card I added some bling in the here and there where it just needed something.   This made the card sparkle and was a great addition.  I mean who doesn’t love bling.

I left the sentiment off the card because I want sure what would look best.  If you have any thoughts leave them in the comment section below.

Thanks for dropping by today and we will see you again soon.
