Hello Stampers and crafters today my card which was inspired by all the butterflies flying around our garden this summer. And I know that as fall approaches these beautiful flutter-byes will be gone. So here’s my card for today, I hope you like it.
My card features more of a technique than a stamp set. I started off my card by taping down a piece of watercolor paper. I pulled out my selected ink colors (Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight). Once my color pallet was selected I need a piece of window sheet or acetate to do the color Smooshing technique. Once I found that I was ready to go.
Tips and Tricks:
I took my lightest color of ink and smoothed it around the acetate. Next I spritzed my inked up sheet with a little water as well as my watercolor paper. Next is easy you pick it up and smoosh it around the watercolor paper. I found it easy to hold the corners and lift and turn and repeat. I still wanted some of the white to show. I repeated this process with the other two colors and let my watercolor paper dry.
Time to Stamp:
After the paper was completely dry I cut it down from 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 to just 3 3/4 x 3 3/4. I took the left over piece and stamped four butterflies using Papillon Potpourri stamp set, using Basic Black Archival ink.
I punched these out using the elegant butterfly punch from Stampin’ Up!
I next started creating my card front. I took my 3 3/4 square and layered it on a 4×4 daffodil delight square. The card base was created with a 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 piece of Tangerine Tango scored at 4 1/4. I used the Bitty Butterfly punch to punch out a small butterfly in the left hand bottom corner.
To create the focal image I ran the large butterfly thinlit from Butterfly Thinlits dies through my big shot in basic black. This was attached this to the watercolor piece slightly caddie whompous using the fine tip glue pen. I then attached two of the smaller butterflies to the front of the cardbase.
Creating the Inside:
The card insert was super easy. It’s just simply a piece of whisper white cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4. I stamped “dream without fears and love without limits.” from Picture Perfect Stamp set and added two more of my watercolor smooshed butterflies around the sentiment. I closed the card back and lined up my bitty butterfly that was punched through the punched opening and attached with a glue dot. To finish off my card for today I stamped “hope like crazy” (also from Picture Perfect) on front.
That finished my card for today thanks for dropping by. I hope that you may give this card a try and not let it flutter on bye.
