Hello Stampers and Crafters, I hope you are doing well today. Today I am sharing with you a card that I have been holding back just for the right time. Well today is the day. Since I live in the south, and it’s been so hot this summer: Especially the last month or so (we are finally seeing a little break from the heat). So showing you this card is perfect for today.
I wanted to show you that you could use a Christmas set for something other than a Christmas set, and Snow Place is perfect for that with this cute little penguin. He is so cute. And for a hot summer day the Penguin is sure to cool you off just a little. Here’s the Snow Place stamp set if you missed it in Last years Holiday catalog, and the great thing is it carried over to the Annual Catalog. So you still have a chance to grab it if you haven’t already.
Tips & Tricks
I started the card with just a simple white background. I knew that I wanted to use the Thick Whisper White as my card base but I also knew I needed to draw interest to this cute little guy. So I used the Large Polka Dots TIEF on the front of my card. Make sure you line it up at the edge of your card and insert it into the folder leaving the back out and run it through your big shot. This way you don’t have an embossed image on the entire thing, but I am sure you knew that. But, did you know that if you don’t have it lined up just right you will get a line at the top of your card. We don’t have to ask me how I learned that now do we.
I stamped my Penguin in Basic Black Archival Ink on my Stampin’ Pierce mat that way I got a wonderful impression. I stamped the scarf in Pumpkin Pie (since orange is my favorite color it needed just a little) I colored in his beak and little feet with a blender pen and Pumpkin Pie ink. After that was done I cut them out using the Snow Friends Framelits Dies. To draw more interest to this little guy I used the Layering Squares framelits and cut out a square in Bermuda Bay, and a scalloped square in Pumpkin Pie cardstocks. I attached the Bermuda Bay square to the pumpkin pie one with some snail adhesive. Then popped it up on my card base using Dimensionals. To draw a little more interest to my main character he got popped up as well.
To finish off the card I stamped Time To chill (Snow Place) and Happy Birthday (came from Confetti Celebration) on some scrap whisper white cardstock. I then cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock just slightly bigger then the whisper white piece and created a flagged end on each. I attached each of them together and placed them on my card. I put one at the top coming in above my little Penguin and the other coming the opposite direction below him. This helped to keep the interest on this cute little guy.
Here are a couple more cards showcasing this stamp set.
Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you give this card a try and think about your Holiday stamps in a different way, so that you get more use out of them all year long, instead of just a few months during the season.
