In today’s card and video tutorial I will be showing you how to add a watercolor effect to your cards with out a brush.  I know you are thinking what no brush!  Yes, it’s true, and it’s super easy.   So let’s have a look at today’s card shall we.

I really do love to use watercolor techniques in my card making and this is a super easy one to do.  We will see that in the video a little later.

Color Combination:

Let’s talk about the colors that I used for today’s card.   I think that this is just a fun color combo and it’s so bright and cheerful.  Not to mention summery.   So I used an analogous color scheme on my card today.   Analogous colors are any three colors which are side by side on a 12 part color wheel, such as yellow-green, yellow, and yellow-orange. Usually one of the three colors predominates.  So with my card I used Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Cucumber Crush.

Why did I pick these colors?  Well it’s because they are all have color harmony.  In visual experiences, harmony is something that is pleasing to the eye. It engages the viewer and it creates an inner sense of order, a balance in the visual experience. When something is not harmonious, it’s either boring or chaotic.  Color harmony is a sure fire way to create an emotion in your cards.   This color combo is very pleasing to the eye, it creates a sense of warmth, but also gives the feeling of something happy and cheerful.   If you have problems with your cards look at the colors it may just be the thing.  I keep a color wheel at my work station to check to make sure things are where they are suppose to be on the color wheel and not competing with each other.
