Today’s card is part of this weeks Paper Craft Crews’ Card Challenge.   This week we have a wonderful fun sketch to play with.   It really leaves everything up to the imagination.   When the new Annual catalog released recently I feel head over heals for this stamp set.   It’s a hostess only set so the only way you can get it is by hostessing a party/workshop or by placing a $150 order and use your Stampin’ Rewards.   This was a no brainier for me; done and done!   But, that’s another topic for another time.   Here’s a look at the sketch that inspired my card this week.

Because the stamp set is just line art, I wanted to keep the outside of the card simple as well, just some simple watercoloring and very minimal.   I wanted the main focus to be on the elephant, which I have named Wisteria  Here’s a little closer look at the front of the card.

I mean really who wouldn’t love to get this cute little guy.  And this stamp set is so versatile.  This is one of those sets that could be used for baby, birthdays, get wells, just any number of things.    I used the new Layering Squares dies to cut out the elephant after it was all watercolored, and dried.   I paired the wisteria wonder base and ink colors with pear pizzazz so that it would pop just a little bit more.   I added the retired candy dots for just a little bit more of the color theme going on and it just needed something.  The candy dots were simple enough that it didn’t really take away from the card but added just a little extra pop.

Who knows what elephants are famous for?    Anyone!   Well let me just tell you that when I saw the sentiment from the Painter’s Pallet stamp set I thought oh wow that’s an interesting play on words.   Since elephants are suppose to be incredibly smart it was perfect.   And why not!

Love you lots happy birthday.jpg

I added the little mouse from the outside to tie the front and the inside together.  Sometimes all you need is something so simple and small and it can take you inside to something unexpected.   The little mouse is the unexpected in the inside of this card.
