I am back again today to share my card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge PPA298.   My card this week is all about the Botanicals.   I am so ready for Spring that I just can not stop myself from using all these flowers.    Here’s the challenge card for this weeks challenge.

As you can see the sketch was left pretty open for interpretation, and that’s just what I did.   Here’s my card for the challenge in case you missed it or wanted to look at it again.

Measurements:

My cardbase is Pear Pizazz cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  It’s a standard size card base.   Pear Pizazz is a nice warm spring green and I thought it would be perfect for the designer series paper that was my go to, more about that latter.   Next I paired it with Watermelon Wonder cut at 2 3/4 x 3 1/4 (I cut the butterfly out of the center of it to save on some paper.)  I knew that it would be okay because I was using the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series paper(cut at 3″ x 2 1/2).   I knew this was a must since I wanted to use both flowers and butterflies on the card.   Next I wanted to contrast the light colors with just a hint of a dark and since Mossy Meadow is in the flowers on the DSP it was the perfect pick.   It’s cut at 3 1/2 x 2 3/4.   The rest was just scraps that I dug through my scraps to find since I only needed very little.

I stamped the Mossy Meadow cardstock with the large leaf from the Botanical Blooms Stamp set in Mossy meadow ink.  I did this because I didn’t want it to be to domineering when paired with the DSP.   In Art light colors fade away from you and dark colors are closer.   So I had to mat the DSP to make it come forward a little more than it was.

I moved on to the background on the card base next.  It needed something besides just a plain cardbase.  So I pulled out the Timeless Texture Stamp Set to try it.  Now, let me just tell you this stamp set and I have a love hate relationship.  I love it I think it does some beautiful stuff for everyone else that uses it.  But, it seems like everytime I pull it out we do this dance where it doesn’t want to flow to the rhythm.  It has it’s own counts going, but today I was going to change my step counting to match it’s.  And I am glad to say that we found a little harmony.
