I am back….    I am dropping back in today to share my card for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA297).   I actually had my card done Friday, but just now getting a chance to upload it.   The challenge was designed by Jackie Diediker.   I love the colors she picked.   We have bright and cheerful Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party all of which just speak Springtime.   Here’s the theme in case you missed it.

I just love this color combo.  It made me think of spring and all the wonderful flowers and butterflies coming out.   So here’s what I came up with for my card design.

This card just makes me happy!   I used the Watercolor Wings, Papillon Potpourri stamp sets and the butterfly thinlits dies to create my card.

KISS (Keep It Simple Sweetie):

I love all these stamps and thinlits that I used.   When I started the card I knew that I wanted to use the Watercolor Wings stamp set for sure, but wasn’t really sure how I wanted to use it.  I finally settled on the how and started my stamping.  I first stamped the butterfly using all the colors on the same one but didn’t like how it was looking.   Not to mention that Wisteria Wonder is a purple and Daffodil is of course a yellow and they don’t play to nicely mixed together.   So I decided to keep it simple.  I made each butterfly the same color, and just used some triple stamping off to achieve what I wanted.   I stamped the first layer off twice to achieve a lighter shade of each color then I inked up the next stamp and stamped off. Finally I did the last layer full strength.

Adding a Little WOW-Factor:

After this was completed I needed some WOW-factor.  So I used the thinlits and cut out the medium butterfly in basic black for all.   I wanted to go for a monarch butterfly look but just in the colors for the challenge.  After this was completed I cut some masks and placed over the main butterflies and stamped my small ones from Papillon Potpourri in the three colors.  When I do multiple images of the same subject I usually stamp in a triangle formation.   This is a extremely great way to balance your card out.   After all this was done it still wasn’t doing it for me so I grabbed by Gold Wink of Stella and my Aqua Painter and created some splatters around the card.   To finish the card off I added some Crystal Effects in each cut out of the thinlit pieces to add some dimension.   After everything was finished I added some of the metallic sequins just for a little extra pop.

To finish my card up it still needed something so I cut a piece of Wisteria Wonder to 1″ or so and stamped my sentiment in VersaMark.   I added some white embossing powder and set it.  We were a little closer to the card I envisioned.   Next just to add a little more bling I added some of the Pool Party glitter ribbon under my wisteria wonder embossed piece with some fast fuse and popped everything up on Dimensionals.   Now all it needed was three candy dots in one of each of the three colors on the front to tie everything in and I was done.

Here’s another look at my card for this weeks challenge.
