Today’s project is a star and balloon filled Birthday Card!   This is a great card for any one of your Birthday list.  I mean who doesn’t like balloons or stars.   It could even be changed around a little and be a circus card.

I love bright fun cards for birthdays, I mean who wants to get a dull boring looking card on your birthday!   I don’t!   I want something fun and exciting.   This card could easily be changed around a little and be for both male and females simply by changing the paper colors.    Hmmm maybe I need to do that and post that as well just to see the difference

I used Melon Mambo cardstock as the base of my card, because I have a lot of it and I wanted the card to be bright and fun.   I have a niece who has a birthday coming up very soon.   I paired the bright cheerful Melon Mambo with basic black, crushed curry and a little watermelon wonder.    This was a fun color combo to work from and actually I pulled most of it from the DSP I was working from.    I used the It’s My Party Paper Stack from the Occasions Catalog.  As well as the stamp set I am using is Party Wishes.  So far I have loved this stamp set, but for me the start of this cared is kind of the paper.   141071O2its my party dsp

Without the Designer Paper it wouldn’t have the same impact.    If you want to add to your collection of great papers but are unsure go for the Designer Series Paper Stacks, they range in two sizes the 6×6 and 12 x 12 each size have different patterns stacks. The It’s my party Designer Series Paper Stack  comes in the 12×12 size so it’s great size for all your crafting needs.

Our first layer was the mat which was done with basic black.  Next I punched some balloons using the new little balloon punch from the designer series paper.  I pushed it up the designer series paper from the side as far as possible and punched out a few balloons.  I did the same thing with the second black mat and hid it all by layering over where I punched out at.   I stamped the sentiment in melon mambo ink.   The crushed curry design was what was on the second side of a piece of scrap I was using.   And, I had some other paper with water melon wonder on it, I am thinking it was some scrap from the Cherry On Top Paper Stack.

If you notice the balloons have a little shimmer and they appear to be raised and glossy.  I stamped the streamers first and added each balloons with glue dots.   I used my clear wink a stella brush pen to add a little glitter to all the balloons.  After that all dried I added a coat of Crystal Effects to each balloon and let it dry for about an hour before touching.   This added the little bit of dimension.   And, it gave the balloons a sense of roundness without doing anything major.

I hope that you give this card a try if you find yourself in a pinch.   You could easily change it up to meet any occasion.  Thanks for dropping by and I will see you tomorrow.   Remember, if you need any of the supplies for this card you can pick them up 24/7 from my online store.
