Today I am sharing one of the cards that I designed for the retreat that I helped with in March; called Joann’s Retreat. The retreat was in memory of our Up-line (well in my case my upper, upper, up-line), that passed away.
When I sat down to think of a card to design for the day, I knew which stamp set, framelets and paper that we were using for the retreat but I wanted to do something a little different. My original card was nothing like this it was a double embossed image, but taking the suggestions from my 4th level up- line Phyllis Shepherd(who by the way I just adore, because she is so encouraging and loving) it became this wonderful old Hollywood style wedding card.
It’s hard to see in the photo but the white is actually all glittery, which added the much needed glamour to my card that I had intended to be a wedding card. Especially since it was Spring and there are a lot of weddings coming up. I wanted to keep with the formal theme so I added touches of black to the card to keep with the formal glamorous look and feel. When the receiver opens the card if they make it that far without their jaw dropping will see the Old Hollywood style I am talking about.
The only other color used was Smokey Slate to add a gray black and white feel to the card. It makes me think of one of those Betty Davis, Marylin Monroe type black and white movies from the 1950’s (Lord I hope I have the actresses right for that time period, or I am going to have my theater card revoked.) The entire card just has that feel to me.
Here’s a peak at some of the projects.
