Good Morning Stampers and crafters

Today’s card is a pleated skirt fold card featuring Perfect Pairings stamp set and the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!.   This is a fun and wonderful technique to take advantage of our double sided Designer Series papers.   I am so ready for spring as you can tell by my card.   Since the first day of Spring has sprung it’s time to pull out and plant flowers everywhere and our cards are no exceptions.   And, the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper is perfect for every occasion.

I mean look at all these wonderful patterns, there’s something for everything.   Put, this together with the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Perfect Pairings and you have a number one wining  combination.

When you combine the two with the pleated skirt fold you get a card that is perfect for many occasions.  The color combination makes it more modern and on trend, but for me when I put both together with Watermelon Wonder (which by the way is one of my favorite colors) takes me back to a very nostalgic feel.  To me it takes me to a time when people were kind, and women never left the house without their hair and make up done.  Yes I know this is very Donna Reid!   This card reminds me so much of a Donna Reid episode, I can see her with her hair all done cooking in the kitchen in her perfect dress, with a pleated apron on saying things that are very proper.   The sentiment for me takes me back to my childhood hearing my mother in her deep southern draw saying these same words to anyone that helped her or was kind.

How to create the Skirt Fold

pleated fold card detail.jpg

The card itself is very easy to create you will need a piece of DSP cut at 7 3/4 x 3.   You are going to measure 1 1/2″ down from the top right corner and make a mark.  And, on the bottom left measure in 3″ and make a mark.  You are going to cut these from mark to mark on a diagonal.   Place in the Simply Score and score at 3, 3 1/2, 5, & 6 1/8.   You are going to fold these in a mountain and valley fold.   Attach the folds together and attach the entire thing to your card base, and BAM you have created the skirt fold.

I added a little glam to the card with some Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper.  Which helped to add to the whole Donna Reid glamour feel for me.   I know you will love adding this to your arsenal, and you will see how it can make a big change in your card.

I hope that you give this card a try if you find yourself in a pinch.   You could easily change it up to meet any occasion.  Thanks for dropping by and I will see you tomorrow.   Remember, if you need any of the supplies for this card you can pick them up 24/7 from my online store.
