I am focusing on the products that will not be available after February 15th. Yes, you read that correctly! This year Stampin’ Up! has three items in the new Sale-a-bration Brochure that will not be available after that time. But, they are replacing them with new items. No, we don’t know what they are yet. So today’s card focuses on a couple of these items that will not be available after February 15th.
The stamp set that I am using is simply titled “Hello“. When I first saw it I wasn’t to sure if I liked it or not, but now I am very happy I got this one. Am also considering getting the French version. It has some great sentiments and it reminded me that sometimes all someone needs is a simple unexpected hello to brighten their day.
I paired the simple stamp set with the “Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper”. I felt this was a perfect name for this paper It has a watercolor look to it. The back of the paper is like a watercolor wash and as a watercolorist I can tell you that for must this simple technique can be very hard to master You have to have just the right amount of water to paint.
I choice to use Bermuda Bay Ink, Cardstock to coordinated with the paper I picked. I paired all this with whisper white and a touch of basic black. But, it still needed something more. Something to push it to the next level.
So in order to do that I picked the new Confetti TIEF (New in the Occasions Catalog). This allowed me to add a little texture to the white Cardstock that the designer series paper was placed on top. I knew I wanted to use some white on the card but just the plain Whisper White wasn’t enough. Using the embossing folder added a little extra ump to the card and worked out great. But, it also allowed a guide for placement of the 2 1/2 circle I punched with the Hello stamped on it.
So I noticed that it still needed something to break up the visual plain and to soften the transition between the embossed cardstock and the DSP. So What color would work? I pulled out my color wheel and picked Tangelo Twist. It was the right blend or warmth, and besides the hue of orange was the perfect compliment to the Bermuda Bay. So my color combination for the card became Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Basic Black and Tangelo Twist.
To finish the card off I stamped My Friend in Basic Black on the Designer Series Paper and then Stamped Thanks For Being You (From Suite Sayings) on the inside with Bermuda Bay. I had considered doing some stamping off on the inside and doing an ombre effect but in the end just the simple inside sentiment was enough. Don’t you agree?
