Good Morning everyone, I hope you survived the bitter cold that has passed was passed around this weekend. We even got snow in Alabama. I know right! Today’s card features the First Sight Stamp set new in the 2016 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. It just felt kind of fitting, don’t ask me why it just did.
Maybe it has to do with I felt that this new stamp set just was the kindred spirit for the Sweat heart punch. Maybe it was because I found a way to use some leftovers to create this new card for Valentine’s Day. It’s one of those cards that you could use for many occasions, some reason it just works. Or maybe it was some other reason.
So for starters I cut my card base out of Rose Red cardstock. It was cut at 4 1/4″ x 11 and scored at 5 1/2″ to create a top folding A2 size card. My tag was cut using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and a 4 1/4″ x 2″ piece of Blushing Bride. I cut a piece of the Bloomin’ Love Designer Series Paper Stack to 4 x 5 1/4″. I picked one that had Crumb Cake pattern on it, to go with the scrap that I used on the tag. They were leftovers from another project but they just seemed to work. They measured 1/8″ x 2″, and I just happened to have them left. I stamped my tag using flourish stamp from the set in Blushing Bride. Next I used a piece of the ribbon left over from the Love Blossom Embellishment Kit to keep my color scheme going.
Next i took my inside cardstock piece before I attached it and stamped the little bird heart image and punched it out using the Sweetheart Punch. I wanted the rose red from the card base to show through and I need a heart for the front so this worked out great. I also punched another heart out of one of the Blushing Bride DSP’s for the inside and continued the theme by repeating the bird heart on the inside.
To finish off the out side of the card it just needed something. Nothing to much but something. So first I stamped the sentiment Kindred Spirits on the outside using Crumb Cake Ink, but that wasn’t it. And Yes, I rocked a little, but that doesn’t bother me. It just shows that the card was hand made. So I punched out a small heart using the new Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and attached it about the kindred Spirits and that finished it off.
There is just something about this color combo that I like. Don’t get me wrong I like pink but it’s not one of my go to colors. But with the two different shades mixed with the Whisper White and Crumb Cake it works for me.
I hope that you give this project a try. If you need any of the products to create this project you can order 24/7 from my online Store. I would appreciate your business and look forward to working with you.
